YOUR SPEAKERS:

Dr Drew Rae, School of Humanities, Griffith University
Drew is Manager of the Safety Science Innovation Lab at Griffith University, where he directs and teaches the postgraduate programs in Safety Leadership.

Drew’s research brings a critical cross-disciplinary approach around the examination of myths, rituals and bad habits that surround safety practice.

Drew’s recent publications challenge the common assumption that risk assessments and incident investigations lead to safer work. He suggests alternatives based around a better understanding of the constraints that prevent safe innovation, and the resources that support successful work.

Richard Coleman
After nearly 30 years in Executive Safety, HR and Operational roles, Richard has built a wealth of experience about what works and what doesn’t work in changing organisational culture. His previous roles include GM of HSE at Asciano Limited, and Director Health, Safety & Environment at Telstra.

Richard has extensive experience in leadership, occupational health, organisational learning and executive management. He received his B.A. in Industrial Relations & Political Science from the University of New South Wales and his Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety at the University of Sydney.
